Each month with You Beauty Discovery they have a selection of products where you choose TWO items. They will then add a few extra beauty treats and a magazine explaining all the products that were available that month, pop them all into a very cute and pretty beauty box and send them straight to your door. You get all this for an amazing price of £6.95 and FREE P&P! This is by far the cheapest monthly beauty box I have found so far.
This month’s theme is Summer Essentials. So there is different products to help you through the summer and we have been having some good weather recently as well so it is definitely feeling like summer. There are products containing SPF, products to add colour, products to hydrate and products to nourish. I wasn’t amazed by the products on offer this month, but I made sure I chose my options as soon as the selection opened. It still took me about an hour to actually process my selection as the website doesn’t cope very well with the amount of traffic going through it. If you don’t pick straight away though many things sell out very quickly.
There was only a limited amount of these available so they will have sold out quickly. They are both 5ml size samples and together they are worth £19.50. The White Oil Ultimate Firming Serum is £75 for the full size 30ml, the Intensive Age-Repair Cream is £70 for the full size 50ml. I had to go for this as it is something I would not get the chance to try otherwise as I would not pay those prices! The serum is designed to hydrate, plump, tone, firm and lift the skin. You apply a few pearl sized drops at night and/or morning and smooth over face and neck. Follow up with the repair cream. This is suitable for all skin types. The repair cream improves skin’s natural collagen production, plumps lines and wrinkles and protects and deeply nourishes the skin. These look very luxurious products and I look forward to trying them.
This is a full size product worth £14.49 size 1.2g. These mineral eyeshadows are 100% natural and are a mineral based loose powder. The powder seems easily blendable and quite pigmented. I think if you were to use an eyeshadow base then this would be highly pigmented and would stand out really well. Rich List is a very nice shimmery gold, which is definitely ideal for the summer. I should be able to try out some really nice looks with this shadow, you can also use it wet or dry and it would look best blended with one or two other colours.
This is one of the extra samples everyone gets in the box. This is a 2ml sample worth £1.66. Full size in 30ml for £24.99 but it is currently on offer until 31st August 2014 for £16.66. This is a cream serum which can be used under your moisturiser, or can be used as a moisturiser alone depending on how dry your skin is. It claims wrinkles are less visible immediately after application, which is a big claim, I don’t have many wrinkles just yet though so I won’t be able to tell how true this is. It also claims skin is brighter, pores are tighter, moisturisation increase of 9 % after 14 days and an elasticity increase of 9% after 14 days. I am going to be trying this tonight just to see how good it is, if it turns out to be amazing I may just have to buy it whilst it is on offer. You can buy it from here www.lloydspharmacy.com.
Another extra in the box was a sample of Jimmy Choo eau de parfum and Jimmy Choo Man eau de toilette. Both 2ml in size, eau de parfum worth £1.95, and the mans one is worth £1.68. I do really like Jimmy Choo perfume and I don’t own any yet, so this is a nice sample for me to now own. It is a fruity scent with a rich woody depth. The mans sample is the very first male fragrance by Jimmy Choo. This is now another month where You Beauty Discovery has supplied a male product, thankfully for me I can give this to my partner, but if I didn’t have anyone to give it to I would probably be a bit disappointed and this would be wasted on my dad as he never uses the stuff! ha. I must say the man’s scent is very nice, this may have to be on my partner’s Christmas list now!
Cheeky 4-way Nail Buffer
The last extra is a 4-way nail buffer, I haven’t used one of these for a while but I am due a new one as mine is looking a bit battered now. I don’t know how much this is worth as I can’t find this exact one, but on average they are about £1.99. I will definitely be using the product so it is handy for me to have a new one in stock. If you don’t know how to use these they are very easy and as you can see they tell you what each side is for. Step 1, file your nail like normal. Step 2, Smooth, use it on the entire nail plate to smooth out any ridges. Step 3, Buff the entire nail plate, which gives it a clean smooth finish. Step 4, Polish, this give it that amazing shine.
Overall I am happy with this month’s box, although I would have preferred a better selection to pick from as there didn’t seem to be as many and not that many things stood out to me this month. The total value of my box (including all extras) is £41.27, again this is amazing consider you only pay £6.95 for the entire box! The value of this box also compares to the more expensive subscription boxes, and this month even beats the total value of other more expensive subscription boxes. I would definitely recommend You Beauty Discovery to someone wanting to try a beauty box, you just can’t beat the value of these boxes.
