Love Me Beauty August 2014

love me beauty august

You get a choice of 3 Love Me Beauty boxes every month.  They contain very similar items, but a couple of products will be slightly different,  so you get to pick which box suits you best.  You can also skip a month if you don’t like what they are offering and you can also pick a mystery box where what you get will be a surprise.  I have never done this, as I have always chosen which box I want.  This beauty box costs £10 + £2.95 p&p.  The size of the products in Love Me Beauty are decent sizes and quite often there are full sizes in the box.

This month I went for Edition 3 as I wanted the beauty wonder oil.  The first thing I noticed was that there are only 4 products!  I think I got spoilt last month with the 7 products I received, but there just seems to be something missing from this month’s box.  There is no lifestyle product this month, which would have filled it out a bit and not made my box look so empty when I opened it.  Even my partner made a comment asking if that was all I got this month!  But even though there doesn’t seem to be much in the box, every product I received is actually full size!  That is impressive.

swedish spa love me beauty

Oriflame – Swedish Spa Beauty Wonder Oil – £8.45

This is 150ml in size.  This is a versatile oil which softens and nourishes.  It contains Hydracare+, antioxidants, tonic ginger oil, nourishing coconut oil, vitamin E and sweet almond oil and smells absolutely amazing!!  Using this straight out of the shower will leave you smelling fantastic.  When you apply the oil to the skin it doesn’t leave you feeling greasy, it absorbs straight in and leaves your skin feeling silky and soft.  I am such a massive fan of body oil and I use it all the time and this is what made me chose Edition 3.  You can use this oil for massage, moisturising, bathing or as a pre-shampoo treatment for your hair.  This oil is so versatile, you can use it for so many things and it smell great, I just love this oil it is now a new favourite of mine.

Marsk lucky pennymarsk lucky pennymarsk lucky penny swatch

Marsk – Mineral Eyeshadow – Lucky Penny – £14.49

This eyeshadow is a 100% natural mineral based loose powder and is also strictly cruelty free, which is what I like to hear.  The colour I received is ‘Lucky Penny’, which is a nice browny bronze colour and it can be blended easily and also looks gorgeous on.  The powder has a creamy texture once applied and is also highly pigmented.  This colour will go really well with the one I received in my You Beauty Discovery box.  You can also use these eyeshadows wet or dry, depending on the desired look you are after.

mirabella lip pencil, love me beauty mirabella lip pencil

Mirabella – Lip Luster Liner – Shy – £10.50

This lip liner is lovely, it is long wearing and has a shiny finish.  It contains Aloe Vera that helps to keep lips soft and application comfortable.  Because of this it doesn’t feel as dry as a lot of liners can do, and you can even coat the entire lip with the liner before applying a gloss or a balm for full coverage.  I love the colour, it is a subtle nude colour that works really well with my skin tone.  I’m very impressed with this lip liner.

a la carte brow ink a la carte brow ink blondea la carte brow ink

A La Carte – Smudge-Proof Eyebrow Definer – Blonde – £23

Now this product is definitely one that has caught my eye.  This is a skinny tip pen which you use to paint in individual hairs.  It is water-based and smudge-proof which can be used for eyebrow, eyeliner or semi-permanent body art.  The colour that was in everyone’s box is Blonde, which is actually more like a light brown.  I had to apply quite a lot when I first tried it out (as you can see in the picture).  Even though it is more brown than blonde, it is still the wrong shade of brown for me, but maybe mixed with a powder or pencil I maybe able to get the right shade.  I like the fact you can use this for your brown and as an eye liner, I don’t think I will get much use of it as a body art pen.  The down side of this product is the fact that it is £23!  I would never pay that amount of money for this, I think it is just extremely over priced, but it has been nice to be able to try it out.

So the value of this box comes to £56.44, not bad considering there was only 4 products in the box.  I do feel like something else should have been included in this box, there really should have been a lifestyle extra to bulk it out a bit.  It also reminds me a lot of last month’s box, I got two brow products last month and another one this month, I got an eyeshadow last month and again this month.  It would be nice if the mixed it up a bit, but I am still happy with the products I received, and I will use most of them, I just can’t help feeling like something is missing.

Bella & Bear – Hair She Goes Hair Removal Kit

Bella & Bear hair she goes hair removal Bella & Bear hair she goes hair removal

Here is a brand new product which has just come to the UK from Bella & BearThe ‘Hair She Goes Hair Removal Kit’ consists of a pair of pastel pink slanted tweezers and a manual epilator, which is basically a spring with a plastic pink handle on either end.  The RRP is £36, which I think is quite expensive for what you get, but it is currently on offer at Amazon for £14.99.

Bella & Bear  are an American company which has just started to release their products in the UK.  They have a vintage style look and this reflects in their very cute packaging.  I must say the packaging is very eye-catching, I love the pastel colours and the floral design.

Bella & Bear hair she goes hair removal

To use this product you bend the spring and hold a handle in each hand, you then roll the handle back and forth whilst holding it against the area you want the hair removed.  While doing this you slowly move the spring upwards on the skin, this results in the hairs being pulled out.  This first time I used this I found the pain unbearable, I had only tried it on my cheek and chin.  It gets every little tiny hair though, even the ones you can’t see.  The pain made me scared to keep trying it, but I did and you kind of get used to the pain, for me though this is very painful.  I find waxing my top lip excruciating though.  So if you don’t mind having your top lip waxed then this probably won’t hurt as much as it did for me.

Bella & Bear hair she goes hair removal Bella & Bear hair she goes hair removal

I must be such as wimp though as I am yet to venture to use this on my top lip!  I just can’t face starting and having to finish the lot, being dark haired I have a fair amount of hair there and it hurts enough on my chin and cheek!  Also as I don’t like waxing my top lip I take the pain free option of bleaching, so don’t base how much this hurts on me!  Everyone else will probably be able to take the pain! ha  I must say though this definitely works very well, it does remove every little hair and if there is a stubborn one that won’t come out, you have the pair of tweezers that comes in the kit as well.  The results also last for weeks as the hairs are being pulled out from the root, so you won’t have to use this all the time either which is great.  If any reason you are not happy with this product they also offer a 100% money back guarantee, so you can’t really lose when buying this product.

bella & bear hair removal cat

My cat Mylo absolutely Loves this!  He thinks it is a cat toy obviously!  So not only is this a hair removal product but it can also be a cat toy when you are not using it.  This can keep your cat entertained for hours, just be careful that their hairs don’t get stuck in the spring and pulled out too!  I do find this quite fitting though as the brand name Bella & Bear is actually the name of two cats.  So the brand is named after cats and the product appeals to cats, how cool is that!  I do like the brand name, I may be a little biased as I also have a cat called Bella.  You can find the story about the brand name HEREIt is definitely worth a little read, it gives the brand soul and gives a personal aspect into the company.  It has highs and lows in the story, is a little sad but mainly happy.  If you like cats you will love it.

2014-08-04 23.23.27 2014-08-04 23.20.44

This is a handy little product to have in, it does what it is designed to do and it does it effectively.  When you want to remove hair in the comfort of your own home this is a good product to use (as long as you can take the pain!).  I do feel it is a little pricey for what it is, at the end of the day it is just a spring with plastic bits at each end and a pair of tweezers to go with it.  Amazon do have them on offer so you don’t have to pay full RRP for it, so it isn’t too bad for £14.99 as it is only a one off payment, you don’t have to pay out anymore to replace blades or any parts on it like you do for other products.  So it is a good investment.

Love Me Beauty July 2014

You get a choice of 3 Love Me Beauty boxes every month.  They contain very similar items, but a couple of products will be slightly different,  so you get to pick which box suits you best.  You can also skip a month if you don’t like what they are offering and you can also pick a mystery box where what you get will be a surprise.  I have never done this, as I have always chosen which box I want.  This beauty box costs £10 + £2.95 p&p.  The size of the products in Love Me Beauty are decent sizes and quite often there are full sizes in the box.

This Month I went for Edition 1.  This month’s box took a little longer to arrive than the ones I have had in the past, but when it did arrive, boy was it heavy! I opened it up and realised I had received an extra full size Weleda product.  This was a bonus for the first 450 subscribers who chose their box.

so susan mascara

So Susan – Flutter Mascara

This is a full sized product which I believe is 4ml and it is worth £14.95.  Firstly I like the packaging.  I love the gold, it makes such a difference from the normal black packaging you usually get mascara in.  There is also a cute little humming bird on the handle, which I think is a nice touch.

The actual applicator brush is a little smaller than I would normally go for and occasionally when I put the applicator back in you hear a pop sound and the seal has popped up, so if I pull the brush back out I get mascara everywhere.  All you have to do is screw the applicator back in fully and this will push the seal back in.  As you can see in the picture I have got mascara all around the top where the seal is.  This never happens with the usual masacara I use, which is Max Factor False Lash Effect and is of a very similar price.  I would not expect this to happen with a £14.95 mascara, maybe this is something which they could improve on.

Other than that I’m happy to have received a mascara as it is something which I use every day.  It is an intense carbon-black mascara formulated with hyaluronic spheres to help you achieve the darkest, curviest lashes possible.  But for me this doesn’t give me the effect which I desire and which I get with my current mascara, there just wasn’t a significant difference in the appearance of my lashes.

so susan eyebrow powderso susan eyebrow powder

So Susan – Dual Brow Powder

This is a full sized product worth £11.95.  It is a very handy brow palette which includes a slanted brush and a mirror.  The palette is great to travel with and to touch up your brows on the go.  The slanted brush makes it very easy to apply and easy to get thin lines like at the end of your brow.  I do like powders and they do look natural when applied.  The mirror is great, it is the same size as the lid so is a fantastic size.  I do feel though to make this product even better would be to add a tiny pair of tweezers.  There is enough room where the brush is to add this and it would make it ideal for on-the-go.  When you look in the mirror to touch up your brows and you just see that stray hair coming through, you want to get rid of it there and then!  If there were tweezers included you would be able to and this would be a must have travel brow palette.

so susan eyebrow powder

Here is a swatch of the colours, a light brown and dark brown.  You can’t see them amazingly on my skin tone, but when applied to the brow it does the desired effect.  So this palette is great for lighter brows and darker brows and you can also mix the two colours to get the desired colour.

This product is animal cruelty free which is fantastic.  It is also infused with Aloe Extract and Carrot Seed Oil, which helps to nourish and rejuvenate the skin.  This is a great product and I’m very happy to have received it.

Ofra eyebrow pencil

OFRA – Universal Eyebrow Eyeliner

This is a full sized product worth £7.60.  This is another brow product in the same box, does seem a bit strange but I don’t mind.  I tend to use a brow pencil daily and then a brow powder at weekends or when I am going out.  This is a brow pencil and it claims to be Universal, so one colour suits all.  Now I don’t know how true this is, I have brown eyebrows and this suits me fine, if you have light eyebrows I really don’t know.  If you have tried this product let me know what you think and if it suits you.

ofra eyebrow pencil swatch

This is water resistant, so won’t come off in the rain, or in the gym 🙂 It is created with a synthetic beeswax base for a smooth, soft and long lasting application.  It is always handy to have a brow pencil and my other one is nearly running out, so this has come at the right time for me.  Here are a few tips from OFRA for the perfect brow.

OFRA – Pressed Eyeshadow in ‘Sublime’

This is a full sized product 4g worth £8.80.  This is from OFRA’s “Diamonds are Forever” palette collection.  It has a vibrant shimmer colour that makes eyes sparkle like diamonds! This is a fantastic colour! I love it.  It has a goldie sheen to it, and it definitely the type of colour I would go for.  It is suitable for all skin tones and even the most sensitive of eyes.  You can apply this eye shadow with a wet or dry brush and is long wearing.  It also contains natural sun filters (Titanium Dioxide).

ofra eye shadow swatch

One thing I absolutely love about this product, which I didn’t notice straight away, is there is a hidden mirror!  Yes underneath the shadow there is a little mirror! Perfect for when you want to touch up and check your eyeshadow when you are out and about.  All you do is lift the eyeshadow and right underneath is a mirror, here is a picture in case you have missed it too.  Genius idea!

Lashem

LASHEM – Lash Enhancing Serum

This is a 2ml sample size worth £22.85.  Full size is 3.5ml for £40.  So at first it looks like a small sample, but when compared to the actual full size product, it isn’t too bad.  I never really know what to make of these types of products, it says results have found longer looking lashes within 2 weeks.  The serum is meant to nourish and condition the lashes and continues working long after application.

Infused with safe, powerful peptide treatment and patented QuSome delivery system that provides higher encapsulation and absorption of ingredients, you’ll find this is better than false lashes.

I will give this product a try and see if it makes a difference, but at the moment I am a bit sceptical.  If it is amazing I will have to write another post about it.  But we shall see.

The teashed teashed tes

The Teashed – Northern Brew

This Northern Brew is a black tea from Sri Lanka and has a good strength.  I’m glad I got this one, as it brings back a few memories for me as I went traveling around Sri Lanka last year and it was amazing.  It is also a generous amount of tea this time, in the past we have got about 3 bags from Love Me Beauty.  This time there are 20 bags worth £3.50.  This is full sized and when you normally buy it you get them all in a useable paper cup, which I think is a nice little touch, but obviously that couldn’t be done when receiving them in a beauty box.

Northern *Brew is a Ceylon, which is particularly suited to the hard water generally found up north. Tea tastes slightly different depending on what water you have. But don’t worry, a good quality Ceylon like Northern *Brew tastes lush wherever you drink it.

The tea is in silky pyramid bags and is whole leaf tea.  I really look forward to taking these into work with me.  Everyone is going to wonder what this Posh tea is that I am drinking!  There was also a card with an emergency tea bag stuck inside! This is so cute, so you just pop it into your bag for that day you run out of tea!

weleda body lotion

Weleda – Sea Buckthorn Replenishing Body Lotion

This is a full sized product 200ml worth £15.95.  I am so happy to see this full sized product from Weleda in my box from Love Me Beauty.  If you were one of the first 450 subscribers to pick your box then you would have received this.  This product does need to be used as soon as possible though, as it has a short expiry date of August 2014.  But I never go by these, products always last a lot longer than their expiry date.  But I will make sure I do start using it soon.

Weleda have very good ethical values and use natural products which is what I like.  This is for Dry Skin and it contains skin-related essential fatty acids which provide visible and lasting care for the skin.  It is formulated with vitamin-rich oil from organice sea buckthorn, mallow extract and shea butter.  This protects the skin from moisture loss and activates its self-regulation functions.

This lotion smells amazing, it has a nice fresh and fruity smell and it also absorbs straight into the skin leaving it feeling soft and smelling amazing.  This product has a new uniquely shaped award winning bottle, which is an airless bag-in-bottle system with pump dispenser.

I am very happy with this month’s box I received and I am made up with my extra product, which is of a very generous size as well.  The value of this month’s box (without the extra product) is £69.95! Wow!  If I include the extra product I got it is worth £85.60!  Now that is just amazing.  Not bad for £12.95 Love Me Beauty  have definitely stepped up their game this month with this box, there is nothing I can fault about it! Out of all the products there was only one sample size, all of the rest were Full Sized Products. I can’t wait to see what they have to offer for next month’s box.  What do you all think about the box you got??

Memebox Points & Discounts

I couldn’t resist and chose to go with the Korea’s Most Wanted box.  Which box will you go for??  Below are some of the great boxes on offer for you.

Birchbox July 2014

2014-07-15 13.39.372014-07-15 13.38.26

This months Birchbox is all to do with the Summer.  Its theme is Sun Sea & Sand.  So it is packed with samples which are ideal for the warmer weather and for taking away on holiday.  They are decent travel sizes, which is great if you have a holiday booked.  There is a variety of skincare, make-up, body and hair care products, and a lifestyle product as well.  So there is a good variety of products in this months box.

Birchbox is £10 + £2.95 P&P a month, or you can subscribe for 6 or 12 months, which would save some money.  But I prefer not being tied into a subscription and being able to cancel at any time.  Each month you receive approximately 5 beauty samples and an added lifestyle product, and they all come in a handy drawstring bag.  You also receive Birchbox points for each box you receive, and then if you fill in surveys for each product you have been sent you get more points.  100 Birchbox points are worth £10 to spend in the e-store, which is probably one of the best parts of being subscribed to this beauty box.

weleda shampoo

Weleda – Millet  Nourishing Shampoo

This is a none lathering shampoo, so this maybe a little weird the first time I try this one out, as I do like my shampoo to produce a good lather!  I received an 18ml sample worth 85p.  The full sized product is 190ml for £8.95.  The full sized product is not too expensive.  What I like about this product is the fact that is it a natural organic shampoo, so this is also suitable for anyone who is vegan.  This is designed for normal hair, and it helps prevent hair from drying out whilst keeping it supple.

This shampoo is sweet and vibrant, with extract of grapefruit and peppermint, layered with mild, woody amyris. With macadamia nut oil to add a caring, lightly conditioning element, this shampoo is ideal for all the family.

balance me eye cream

Balance Me – Wonder Eye Cream

This is a sample size 7ml worth £9.33, full size is 15ml for £20.  So this is quite a decent sample size.  This eye cream is a triple action cream, which helps to soothe, brighten and lift.  It is meant to help reduce the dark circles around the eyes and help keep wrinkles at bay.  Couldn’t really ask for me, something I should definitely start using more of.  It is a light weight formula, and it feels very fresh when you apply it.  You only need a very small amount as a little definitely goes a long way.  I do own eye creams, but I always tend to forget to use them.  But with the years passing by it is probably something I should start using regularly.

whish body lotion

Whish – Three Whishes Lavender Body Butter

This is a 22ml sample which is worth £2.16.  Full size is 150ml for £14.50.  This is quite a light weight body butter and it absorbs very easily.  It doesn’t have a very strong lavender scent, it is more sweet and is relaxing at the same time.  It is an antioxidant-rich lotion, which moisturises, firms and purifies all in one.  It contains organic shea butter, organic raspberry butter, organic aloe, organic seaweed extract and organic rice bran oil.  It is also paraben and sulfate free, and it is also not tested on animals.  So there are definitely some good points to this body lotion.  I do tend to use body oils rather than lotions, but this is a nice lotion to use and it is a handy size to take away on holiday.  Think I’ll need more holidays to use all the samples I own! 🙂

mineral bath

Gilchrist & Soames – English Spa Sea Kelp Extract Mineral Bath

This is a 40ml sample size worth £1.90. Full size in 236ml for £11.25.  This gel contains marine nutrient sea kelp to invigorate the skin.  The good thing about this product is that it maybe used to create a foamy bath, but you can also just use is as a shower gel.  So even if you don’t have a bath, or you prefer showers, then this item can still be used.  It is paraben and phthalate free.  It has a nice fresh and not overpowering scent, and will be nice to use when I want to treat myself to a relaxing bath.

lip lube swatch laqa & co

Laqa & Co – Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in Bees Knees

This is a 2g sample worth £7.57.  Full size is 3.7g for £14.  You either received this colour or you got a purple colour.  I was hoping to get this one, but once I actually tried it I wished it was just a little bit darker, as it is just a little bit too light for my skin tone.  It is a very nourishing lip pencil, and it is glossier than I expected it to be.  It is very easy to you, and very handy to just pop in to your bag so you can grab it when needed.  When you apply the pencil it has a kind of minty scent, so it is slightly cooling to your lips.  This is great for the summer weather.  This colour Bees Knees is a nice coral colour, and is an ideal colour for the summer, just unfortunately not quite the right colour for me.

ultra dex 2

Ultra Dex – Oral Spray

This is a Full Sized product 9ml worth £3.65. It is an oral mouth spray in mint flavour, and there is 130 sprays worth of product, so it should last a while.  It eliminates odour and is anti-bacterial to help prevent tooth decay, gum disease and plaque.  It says you only need one spray and you really do, I sprayed it twice the first time and it was quite strong!  It says it delivers 12 hours of freshness, but I guess that would all depend on if you eat etc.  I was a bit unsure on whether I was happy about getting this in a beauty box, but it is a handy thing to pop into your handbag.  I don’t currently own a fresh breath oral spray so I guess getting one isn’t really going to hurt.  Who knows, it may come in handy one day.

So overall my box this month was worth £25.46, again not bad considering I pay £10 + £2.95 p+p.  I am quite happy with this months box, there is nothing I dislike.  The only thing I would really change if I could would be the colour of the lip pencil, but they can’t always send things that will suit everyone.  I will just have to get used to the colour.  I would definitely recommend Birchbox, I have been very happy with the products I have been receiving recently.

If you are interested in signing up to Birchbox you can do so HERE.  You will also receive £5 worth of points to spend in their shop.

You Beauty Discovery May 2014

2014-05-07 17.30.07 2014-05-07 17.33.00

This month YBD joined forces with CEW(UK) and had a great selection of products to choose from, I actually didn’t know which products to pick!

2014-05-07 17.34.15

Dr Organic – Moroccan Argan Oil Hair Treatment Serum

This was the first product I chose, and it is Full Size 100ml, which is worth £14.99.  You can buy this from Holland and Barrett.  It says it detangles hair, eliminates frizz, nourishes & protects and provides instant shine.  I picked this as I thought it would be one of the products I would use the most, as I like hair oils due to having frizzy hair!  Most hair oils I have come in small bottles, so it was nice to find such a large product! This will definitely last me a long time! I have yet to try this as I have only just got my box, but it smells nice and it isn’t too thick in consistency.  This product is also free from parabens and is against animal testing.

2014-05-07 17.39.05

GlamGlow – Supermud Clearing Treatment

I picked this product as the full size is expensive, and it has a lot of great reviews so I really wanted to try it without having to fork out for it.  Full size is £44.99 for 34g.  This sample size is 10g and worth £13.23.  It is a detoxifying mud mask which helps fight all skin concerns.

it helps with the brightening and evening of the complexion; creates a more youthful and smooth skin tone; improves elastin and collagen; de-clogs and minimises pore size and fights unwanted breakouts, by reducing redness and super-speeding the healing process.

It can be used as a full mask, or for spot treatments.  You apply to the skin and leave for 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes, depending on the length of treatment you want.  Then remove with warm water and a cloth.  This product is loved many celebrities and was initially created for Hollywood behind the scenes.  I can’t wait to try this product and do a full review on it.  Lets hope it is magic in a tube!

2014-05-07 17.39.21

Lizi’s Granola – Treacle & pecan

This is one of the extras you receive in the box.  It is a 40g packet of granola in treacle & pecan flavour, and I believe is worth around 50p.  This is a nice little extra, and i’m interested in trying this flavour.  I’m happy it’s a nice healthy product included, and I look forward to having this for my breakfast.  I have never really eaten that much granola, but I do quite like it with yogurt, so I will give this a try.

2014-05-07 17.40.18

Charles Worthington – Moisture Seak Hair Healer Leave-In Conditioner

This is my second extra I got, it is a 10ml sample worth 30p.  It also comes with a £2 off voucher.  This product also contains argan oil, and is meant to repair and recondition your hair.  It also says it is lightweight and deeply nourishing.  I tend to use spray leave-in conditioners, so it will be interesting using a gel-creme.  It may feel like I’m applying normal conditioner and just not rinsing, which I’m sure will feel strange at first.  I’m guessing I will only get one use out of this sample, as I do have quite thick long hair.  If I like this product I will probably put the £2 off voucher to good use and buy the full sized product as it is only £5.99 to start with.

2014-05-07 17.40.42

Caudalie – Divine Legs

This is the final extra I received in my box.  It is a 5ml sample worth £1.30.  Full size is £26 for 100ml.  This is a tinted body lotion to give you a sunkissed glow without self-tanning agents.  This is a great product to be able to try out before the summer, not pasty legs on display! You apply the lotion and allow it to dry before dressing, and it just washes off, so sounds great for the days you get your legs out! A nice healthy way to add some glow without causing any damage to your skin.  I have an olive tint to my skin anyway so I don’t know how much use this will be to me, but I will give it a try.  Even when I have bought self tanning products you could never tell I had actually used them, but if you have quite pale skin then this maybe great for you.

So yet another great box from You Beauty Discovery.  This box is worth £30.32!! Not bad considering I only paid £6.95.  You definitely get your moneys worth with this box! Out of all the beauty boxes I get this is the cheapest and the products are actually worth more! This is definitely my favourite box!

What do you think?

Love Me Beauty April 2014

2014-05-02 23.59.36

This is my first Love Me Beauty box review, and I am quite happy with these boxes.  You get a choice of 3 boxes every months, they have pretty much the same things, but a couple will be slightly different.  So you get to pick which box suits you best.  You can also skip a month if you don’t like what the are offering, and you can also pick a mystery box, where what you get will be a surprise.  I have never done this, as I have always chosen which box I want.  This beauty box costs £10 + £2.95 p&p.  The size of the products in Love Me Beauty are decent sizes, and quite often there are full sizes in the box.  The sizes of the products are a lot better than what you get in Birchbox, but they are usually of lower value products, so the actual value of the boxes are pretty similar to each other.  But if you prefer quantity then this is a great box.

I picked Edition 3.

2014-05-03 00.00.50Neal & Wolf – Ritual Daily Cleansing Shampoo (RRP £11.50)

My first product, is Full Size 250ml and this is why I chose this box as I would use it more often than smoothing cremes etc.  This is a fantastic size, and full size so worth £11.50.  It smells quite nice, and is not overpowering.  It has a kind of sophisticated smell, I really don’t know what this shampoo smells like.  I have yet to try this shampoo yet, as I got a shampoo in my Birchbox as well, so I have been trying that one.  I have not tried and Neal & Wolf products yet, but I have heard of them, so it will be great to see what they are like.

Models Own – Nail Polish ‘Fuzzy Peach’ (RRP £5)

This is another Full Size product so worth £5.  As I have said before I don’t usually use nail polish, as I prefer Gel Polish.  This dried fairly quickly, but was rather thin and watery when applying, but it went on nicely.  It’s by Models Own and is in ‘Fuzzy Peach’.  I do really like the colour, it has kind of a neon tint to it, but isn’t too bright. It is ideal for the summer. The only thing is it has already chipped on about 3/4 fingers, and it hasn’t even been on for 24hrs. So even though I love the colour I’m not too impressed with its longevity.  I have had to fill in the chips, but it just chipped again within another 24hrs.  So it’s great to wear for the day, but don’t expect much longer out of it without it looking tatty.

Betty Hula – Secret Wonder Oil Roller Ball (RRP £6.25)

This is yet another Full Size product! That makes 3 full sized products in one box! Its is worth £6.25 and is 10ml.  This is a moisturising oil and is suitable for all skin types.  It boosts your skins natural moisture barrier which promotes radiance, whilst the roller ball works to encourage circulation.  It contains Grapeseed oil, Apricot kernel, Avacado oil, Hemp oil, Vitamin E, Rose Absolute and Jojoba oil.  It smells amazing, it has a very luxurious scent and reminds me of when you visit a spa and have a massage.  It make your skin so soft! It’s amazing how soft my skin feels after I apply this oil.  And you can apply this anywhere on your body, so you see a patch of dry skin.. apply this and voila it will be moisturised and super soft!  It is good for relieving signs of stretch marks, scaring, dry/sensitive and aging skin, combination skin, oily skin and for soothing sunburn.  It has so many uses, and you have to try this to believe how soft it make your skin.  This is something that should be on everyone’s shopping list!

2014-05-03 00.03.03Redken – Colour Extend Conditioner (RRP £9.99)

This product is a sample size 30ml and is worth £1.20, the full size is £9.99 250ml.  This is a special conditioner for colour treated hair, and it is meant to resurface the cuticle for a smooth, vibrant finish. It also detangles and provides protection from fading, whilst restoring colour vibrancy.  I do colour my hair, so I will get use out of this product.  But it was not something I got excited about.  It just reminds me of the colour conditioner you get in every box of home hair dye kit! But this maybe different, I guess I will have to try it to find out.  But I am not going to expect anything different from this product.  If you have already tried this product let me know what you thought about it.

2014-05-03 00.04.55

There were a few extras in the box, and that consisted of a voucher for HelloFresh worth £25.  I probably wont use this as it is somehting you have to sign up to, where you receive a box each week with recipes and ingredients in.  There were also 2 x 2ml sachets of Weleda – Stretch Mark Massage Oil worth 64p.  Full size is £15.95 for 100ml.  It is meant to prevent the appearance of pregnancy stretch marks by visibly improving the skin’s elasticity and smoothness.  So this is probably great if you are pregnant, which I am not! But I am sure it will be a nice massage oil anyway, and it will be something nice to try.  It also maybe a product I might want to use in the future! You never know!

This month was a fantastic box, so may full sized products!! This month’s box (excluding the gift voucher!) is worth £24.59! Not bad for £10 + £2.95 p&p.  Again you get more than your moneys worth, so can’t complain there!

Which edition did you go for, and what do you think of Aprils box??

You Beauty Discovery April 2014

2014-04-10 15.38.42

This is my second You Beauty Discovery box, and I love it!  It is great for only £6.95 a month, and no P&P! It would be rude not to give this fabulous box a try.  I explained how this box works in my last post, which you can find HEREBasically you get to choose two products yourself, and they you get an extra two little items as well.  The 1st of each month £6.95 will come out of your bank, you then have the option to select what products you want to receive.  I strongly suggest making your selection as soon as you can, as a lot of products sell out very fast! The products I chose have already sold out, so I’m glad I made my selection on the 1st April.

The theme for this months box is ‘Organic and Natural’.  So all products have natural ingredients, which is fantastic.  The products I picked are also animal friendly, so I am very happy with that. This theme was inspired by the arrival of a new season, and hopefully some sunshine, so there are a lot of products which help brighten your skin and get it ready in time for the summer.

2014-04-10 15.39.522014-04-10 15.40.05

The first product I chose was STEAMCREAM Moisturiser.  The product is FULL SIZE at 75ml and is worth £12.95.  So this product on its own makes this box more than worth it!  I have already made my money back and more.  It is a Handmade moisturiser, using natural ingredients that have been fused together with steam, hence the name.  This makes the cream very light weight, and easily absorbed into the skin.  You can use this cream all over the body, and you can even use it on your face.  Also if you visit their website you can find out exactly what ingredients have been used in their product, which is fantastic, and great for people who like to know exactly what they are applying to their skin.  It has lovely floral ingredients, you can smell the lavender in it, which makes it great to use just before bed and is very relaxing.  It also contains Orange Flower Water, Almond Oil, Cocoa Butter and Chamomile.  I have never heard of this product before, but I already love it.  The funky tin designs are great, and you can pick a different one each time you purchase one.  I love this bright shell design! Also the cream smells amazing, and is nice and light so can make a nice face cream.  If I change to use this as my face cream I will save a lot of money, the one I use at the moment is about £37 for 50ml! And I would love getting different tin designs! I am made up with this product, and so glad I chose it.

2014-04-10 15.46.012014-04-10 15.46.28

The second product I chose was Clayspray Glow Red Clay With CacaoThis is 30ml, on the Clayspray website the full size is 125ml for £44.50.  You can also purchase this product from Feelunique, com where you can get a 30ml for £15, so again this is amazing considering the cost of the box! And you get decent sized products, they really don’t scrimp on sizes.  There were two different Clayspray masks to choose from, and if you wanted you could choose both.  I went for the Glow one rather than the Brightening one, which was available.  It has red clay with cacao, which makes the mask smell of chocolate! Yum.  It exfoliates, rejuvenates and nourishes.  It comes in a very handy spray can, so the product stays fresh and doesn’t dry out.  All you need to do it wet your face (they say use mineral water, but I just used normal), squirt a small amount into your hand, being careful as a lot comes out.  Then apply to your face and leave until it dries.  Once dried, add some water to soften it again and wipe off.  Be careful what cloth you use, as this does stain instantly as I found out!  My skin felt great after using this, and it doesn’t dry your skin out either, which i find a lot of masks usually do.  I love the fact it comes in a spray, masks usually come in a one use packet and I always seem to get it everywhere! There is no mess what so ever with this product, and you can use as much or as little as you want each time.  It glides onto the skin very easily and dries fairly quickly, so you don’t have to keep it on for too long.  Also the smell is divine, it smells good enough to eat! But I would strongly recommend not eating it!!  Here’s a little bit of blurb from the side of the box some of you may like to read:

2014-04-10 15.46.47

2014-04-13 20.52.26

One of the extra treats I received was a sample for The Organic Pharmacy – Antioxidant Face Cream.  The sample size 3ml and is worth £2.40.  The full size is 50ml for £39.95.  This again is a new product to me, I have never heard of them before.  It says it is packed with wrinkle fighting herbs and vitamins including vitamins C and E.  I have not yet tried this product, but I definitely will be.  They also state they have no animal testing, which is definitely a bonus for me.  It is a nice little extra and I look forward to trying it.  You would either receive a sample of the face cream, face gel or face serum.  I would have been happy receiving any of them.

2014-04-10 15.48.022014-04-12 16.03.28

The second extra treat was a 9bar Fruity.  If you were to buy a single bar I believe its about 99p.  The first thing I noticed if that they are gluten and wheat free, which is fantastic for me.  It is vegan friendly and consists of a blend of seeds and dried fruit, topped with carob.  It didn’t take me long to try this product, and I must say it was rather tasty.  It was packed with delicious seeds, such as sunflower, pumpkin and sesame.  You can tell instantly that it’s all natural and looks homemade.  I also found out that it is made pretty local to me in North Wales, which makes a nice change.  I would definitely buy this product again, it’s a great little healthy snack!

So overall I am very impressed with this box again.  The contents of this box is worth a whopping £31.34!! Now for the £6.95 I paid for this that is just amazing, it also comes to more value than some of my more expensive boxes such as Birchbox and Love Me Beauty.  I am gobsmacked at how much my box is worth! I cannot wait for next months box, and I get excited about picking my products.  Next month’s box theme is ‘May the force be with you’ and is to do with the CEW(UK) Beauty Awards.  I can’t wait to see what we get to choose from.  Let me know what you think of the box, if you already subscribe or if you are interested in it.  I would highly recommend this box to anyone.

Birchbox March 2014

2014-03-16 15.21.26

This is one of the first beauty boxes I tried.  I have been getting BIRCHBOX for about six months now, and this box was the start of my addiction to getting these beauties sent to me in the post.  When you sign up to Birchbox you fill out a beauty profile, which they are meant to use to base what products you get given in your box.  I’m not sure how much they actually go by what you fill in, as I have been given several products which are too light for my skin even though I have stated my skin tone.  Also it appears that everyone gets nearly the same products, with maybe one or two being slightly different.  With Birchbox you don’t know what products you will be receiving each month, as it is kept as a surprise.  I quite like that about this box, but I also like other boxes where you get more of a decision as to what you will receive, such as Love Me Beauty and You Beauty Discovery.

I already have a lot of points saved up and I can’t wait to spend them on some luxury full size products.  Right well that is the box explained, so before I go on too much I will get on with reviewing this months box.

This month Birchbox collaborated with British brand, Lulu Guiness.  So this month the box had a funky stripy sleve over it, also some products were picked by Lulu herself.  But I must confess I haven’t actually heard of Lulu Guiness until now.

2014-03-23 23.33.26

Benefit – Stay Don’t Stray

This first sample from Benefit is 2.5ml in size, which may seem very small but as you don’t need to use a lot at a time it should last a while.  This sample is worth £5.13, which is already half the price of the box! The full sized product is £20.50 for 10ml.  This product is a primer for eye make up and concealer, so it makes your eye make-up stay put all day long.  All you need to do is apply 3 small dots below your eye and also on your eyelid, blend in, let set and then apply your eye shadow and concealer as usual.

This is also great to wear alone, for those days you really don’t want to wear much make-up, but also need that little something to hide those pesky under eye circles.  You may expect this to dry out your skin, but it really doesn’t! It actually hydrates, which is great.  It also contains Vitamins C and E which help fight signs of aging! Can’t complain with that.  It comes in two different shades; Light & Medium, Medium & Deep.  I received the Light & Medium, when i really should have received the Medium & Deep shade if Birchbox had read my beauty profile correctly! But that isn’t really a massive issue, as by the time I have finished applying all of my make-up you don’t really notice what shade has been used.  All in all it is a great little product to try, and is a very handy size to pop in your handbag.

2014-03-23 23.29.40

Dr Brandt – Pores No More

This sample is from Dr Brandt, I have tried their products before but only through Birchbox.  This sample is 7.5ml and is worth £9.75.  The full sized product is £39 for 30ml.  Pores No More is a pore refiner, which absorbs excess oil, minimises pores and blurs fine lines.  It has a nice silky soft feel when applying to your skin, and glides on effortlessly.  I love the way my skin feels after using this product, and it also mattifies the skin reducing shine.  It also contains Tea Tree Oil, which has antibacterial properties to help keep your skin healthy.  This can be applied before make-up and also after make-up, so that means you can re-apply it throughout the day when you feel it is needed.  I think this is going to be a must to add to my holiday bag, to help against humidity and it is also resistant to sweat! Always handy when going to a hot country, and when you don’t want to look a sweaty mess in all your holiday snaps!

2014-03-23 23.30.47

Molton Brown – Replenishing Hand Cream

This sample is for Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose Replenishing Hand Cream, it is 7ml and worth £1.75. The full sized product is £10 for 40ml.  I don’t really tend to use hand creams that often, but this smells divine and I will definitely be using this one.  It contains truffle extract, which ensures you hands stay incredibly soft, and rose extract, which is moisturising.  The thing I like about this hand cream is that it absorbs instantly, I don’t like hand creams that leave your hands feeling greasy after using them.  This is also a handy size to pop in your handbag or make-up bag. So I am quite happy with this product.

2014-03-23 23.33.58

AromaWorks – Nurture Body Oil

This sample for AromaWorks Nurture Body Oil is 5ml and is worth £1.63.  The full sized product is £32.50 for 100ml.  I wish the sample size was a bit bigger, as if you are like me and like to apply body oil all over your body then I don’t think this will last for many applications.  So really you will only be able to try this product once, which for me isn’t enough when deciding whether to spend £32.50 on something.  The smell of this oil is absolutely gorgeous.  It consists of a blend of May Chang, Roman Chamomile & Sandalwood mixed in with coconut oil and helps promote relaxation and mental calm, it also smells very luxurious.  I don’t think this is something I would purchase the full sized product of though, I just couldn’t spend £32.50 on 100ml of this, I use that much body oil that this really wouldn’t last that long.  I think I will stick with my cheaper and larger alternative, which is Baby Oil and does the job, even though it doesn’t smell as divine as AromaWorks.

2014-03-23 23.31.51-1

English Laundry – No 7

This sample for English Laundry N0 7 is 2ml and is worth £1.88. The full sized product is £47 for 50ml.  Well I received an English Laundry sample a couple of months ago for the Signature perfume, and I fell in love with it and I even received the Full sized product for my birthday off my partner.  So I was quite happy to see another sample from the same brand, and yes I also love this one too! So I think I maybe using my Birchbox points to purchase this.  I can see how people would not like perfume samples as you can just go to a perfume counter and ask for some, but as you can’t get this product in the UK I would never have discovered my now favourite perfume! So thank you Birchbox.  This perfume has notes of pear, jasmine, melon and apricot. Gardenia, jasmine, almonds, sandalwood, vanilla créme and musk.  It has a sweet musky smell, and if probably more an evening perfume compared to the Signature scent.

2014-03-23 23.36.33

The final little extra product is a Lulu Guiness stick of rock, which is apparently her inspiration for her Spring/Summer collection.  Not the most useful or extras but i’m sure I will get round to eating it at some point.  Would have been better if it was something we would benefit from.  There was also a voucher for £20 off when you spend £100 at any Lulu Guiness store, or online.  I won’t be using this as it has to be used by the end of the month, and i don’t really have £80 spare!! So a bit of a waste really! There was also a voucher for a free makeupper at a Benefit Beauty Bar, which also seems a bit pointless and they will do this for you anyway without having a voucher.

2014-03-23 23.35.57 2014-03-23 23.35.28

All in all I am still liking Birchbox, but I do wish there were some larger samples in the box.  They seem to be getting smaller each month, it would be nice to have at least one full sized item.  But I do like the fact that they are more luxurious brands than other boxes, so you get to try things you wouldn’t normally get a chance to.  Also as you receive points every month you will then be able to purchase a full sized product, this is probably one of the main reasons I stay with Birchbox.  The total value of this box is £20.14 (excluding the stick of rock), double what you pay for the box without p&p, so you do get your moneys worth out of the box.

If you are interested in signing up to Birchbox click HERE.  You will receive 50 (£5) points.

You Beauty Discovery March 2014

2014-03-19 11.59.05

I recently discovered this little gem while i was looking into other beauty boxes.  This one is You Beauty Discovery.  This is my first box from You Beauty.  Each month they have a selection of products where you choose TWO items. When selecting it states what sizes you will receive, which is great in helping you choose the most worthwhile products.  They will then add a few extra beauty treats and a magazine explaining all the products that were available that month, pop them all into a very cute and pretty beauty box and send them straight to your door.  You get all this for an amazing price of £6.95 and FREE P&P! This is by far the cheapest monthly beauty box I have found so far.  You may also receive some vouchers in your box to use if you wish to buy any of the products you have tried, there are also voucher codes in the magazine for several products which were available that month – even if you hadn’t picked them for your box.  This month’s box had a theme of “Best of British”, so all the products that were available were all made by some of the best British cosmetic companies.

The first item I chose was the Beauty Lab Glyco Face Wash.  This sample size is 100ml, which is half the size of the full sized item. So this item alone is worth £16, which is fantastic.  It is also a decent size, which means you can get enough use out of it to decide whether the product is right for you or not.

This is a high performance, multifunctional wash, which is a perfect cleansing solution as it removes impurities, unclogs pores and accelerates cell renewal cycle, resulting in fresh, radiant and youthful looking skin.

2014-03-20 13.56.46

I love the size of this item, and the bottle is great.  A very professional looking product which looks great in the bathroom.  It is also in a very handy pump action bottle, which makes using it a lot easier.  It smells great, and has a very fresh and clean smell, fantastic for a face wash.  You are meant to use it 2-3 times a week, so i haven’t used it for very long so far.  But I am very happy with it up to now, my skin feels very clean and soft after using the Glyco Wash, its a foaming gel, so a little goes a long way so this is going to last me a while! I am very happy that I chose this item!

My second item: Frizz Ease Original 6 Effects Serum.  This sample size is 25ml, which is also half the size of the full sized product.  So this one is worth around £3.   This product works to eliminate frizz and repel humidity, which gives your hair a glossy, silky smooth finish.

2014-03-20 13.57.43

This is very handy for me as I use Frizz Ease products a lot, and i am going on holiday in May, so this little beauty will be going in my suitcase!  I already knew what this product was going to be like when I chose it, as i use this every time I wash my hair.  I couldn’t live without this stuff.  My hair gets very frizzy, especially when I blow dry it as well.  So this helps me tame my locks and not make me look like I have a birds nest for hair! So this item will definitely be a holiday essential for me and will be getting saved especially for my jollies, just to make sure I have some to take with me.  Otherwise I will end up like Monica off Friends when she goes on holiday!

2014-03-20 13.58.482014-03-20 13.58.11

Then you get a couple of extra treats added into the box, for this month I got a pair of The Vintage Cosmetic Company Toe Separators.   You would have either received these or a pair of Tweezers, or Gracie Lashes.  I was hoping for the Tweezers as I know I would definitely have used them.  But unfortunately I got the Toe Separators which I know I wont get much use out of.  But as I am also a mobile beauty therapist I suppose I may get some use out of them for my clients.  The toe separators are worth £3.75.

The other extras were two samples of Dragonfly Tea.  One is Moroccan Mint organic green tea, and the other is Moonlight Jasmine organic green tea.  These are only worth about 20p but they are a nice little extra.  I have recently started drinking green tea as part of my new healthy diet, I have never really drank it before so it’s nice to be able to have some samples i can try out before I buy.  These are very handy and I think I will take these into work with me, so I am saving them for then.

So overall I am very impressed with this box, for the price you pay you definitely get more than your monies worth!  I paid £6.95 and the contents of the box I received is worth around £23.  I really like the way you get to choose the item which you want to receive, so you can make sure you get the best products and maybe the products that are larger in size.  But you have to make sure you choose quickly as some products will sell out quickly.  I can not wait for next months box, and I can’t wait to see what products I get to choose from.  Next months theme is Organic and Natural.  So if you are contemplating getting this box I would highly recommend it.  Let me know what you think, and if any of you are subscribers of You Beauty Discovery.  I would love to hear from you.
